Latin Dance is an umbrella term used to describe the Latin-American dances such as the Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia and Bolero. These dances originally came from Argentina, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico with Spanish, African, Cuban and Vernacular influences .
Latin dances are generally more sensual, faster-paced and have more rhythmic expression than other forms of dance. Couples in the basic position stand face-to-face. The timing is 4/4 straight rhythm or related.
Music may be Latin American traditional or contemporary popular music.
